Specifications and Features of APM 559, Dichotomous Sampler
APM 559MFC Dichotomous Sampler : is a dual filter air sampler for the simultaneous collection of the fine (PM2.5) and coarse (PM10-2.5) fractions contained within PM10. Split flow of a specially designed virtual impactor enables separation of the fine and coarse fractions that are collected simultaneously on separate 47mm diameter filters. The APM 559MFC will therefore meet a long-standing requirement of field personnel who were until now burdened with two separate instruments for measurement of PM10 & PM2.5.

In the APM 559 the impaction surface of the WINS Impactor has been replaced by a carefully designed collection nozzle that continuously flushes away coarse fraction particles to a separate 47mm diameter PTFE filter. It is thus possible to chemically analyze the coarse and fine fractions present in PM10 for source apportionment and health impact studies
